As you already know, my name is Kayla.  I am in 8th grade at Mancelona Schools.  I live on a farm with lots of animals. We have 4 cows, 5 pigs, 1 bunny, and 30 chickens and 1 puppy. Our cows names are T-bone, Mr. Moo, Brownie, and Cupcake. We have had T-bone and Mr. Moo since June 2009 when they were little babies.  They were so young, we had to bottle feed them!  Now they are getting big, so we will be sending them to be butchered sometime within the next year. Brownie and Cupcake are still young.  We got them last summer. Our pigs names are Porkers, King, Queen, Trent, Claire and Hammy.

Buddy is my little bunny. I have had him for about three years now. He is the softest bunny ever, and he has his own interesting personality. We rearrange his cage, and he puts everything back where he wants it.  Our chickens pretty much just lay eggs, eat, and sleep! My puppy’s name is AJ. He is 3 months old, and is a pure bred yellow lab. AJ is going to be a bird dog when he gets to be bigger, so we are training him right now.

My favorite things to do in the summer are four wheeling, camping, riding my bike, fishing and hunting.  I also spend a lot of time on my laptop computer.

This year I shot my first buck! I went out hunting on Saturday night on Youth Hunt with my dad and brother, Bradley. Dad and I dropped Bradley off in his tree stand and gave him a walky-talky to let us know if there were any deer coming. About 2 hours later, Bradley came on the walky-talky and said that there were 3 does and 1 small buck out in a corn field. My dad and I headed over to the field quietly and carefully as possible. Making our way down a small hill, we accidentally scared away the 3 does, but fortunatley, the buck was still out there. I looked though the binoculars, and saw that it was a 4 point with a beautiful rack. My dad got the gun up for me, and I shot through a small hole between some branches in a tree.  BOOM!! I shot the buck right in the heart. It was so exciting! I named the deer Billy Buck, my 145lbs, 4 point buck!

In July, 2009 we had a huge family reunion. Most of our family was here and we had a fabulous time. It was a three day reunion with a pig roast, lots of great food, and wonderful company. And, I celebrated my 13th birthday on July 10,2009.
